Overview

The Evora Full Face from Fisher and Paykel is a compact full face mask that seals below the nose and over the mouth. The cushion is mounted to float against the frame, so it can follow your face instead of being held rigidly in one place.

Stability wings brace the frame against your cheeks while that seal moves, which is how the mask stays put without the straps being pulled tight. The headgear itself is an open knit that lets heat and moisture escape rather than trapping them against your head.

Key Features:

  • Floating Seal Cushion: The seal moves independently of the frame, following your face as you change position through the night.
  • Stability Wings: Two wings brace the frame against your cheeks, holding it steady without the headgear being tightened down.
  • VentiCool Headgear: An open knit lets heat and moisture pass through instead of collecting between the strap and your skin.
  • Below-the-Nose Seal: Covers the mouth and seals beneath the nostrils, so nothing crosses the bridge or sits near your eyes.
  • Three Seal Sizes: Extra Small, Small to Medium and Large, with a Fit Pack that ships all three in one box.
  • Replaceable Seal: The seal comes off on its own, so a worn cushion does not take the frame and headgear with it.

The Evora Full Face suits patients who need mouth coverage but want the smallest mask that will deliver it, particularly anyone whose nose bridge has been marked by a traditional design. Warm sleepers tend to notice the difference in the headgear first.

How It Works

Why the seal is not fixed to the frame

On most masks the cushion and the frame are one assembly. Move your head and the whole thing moves, so a seal that was correct when you fell asleep is levered off the moment you turn onto your side.

Fisher and Paykel decoupled the two. The seal rides on a compliant mount that lets it travel relative to the frame, which means the headgear can hold the frame while the seal keeps its own contact with the skin.

What the wings are actually doing

Two arms extend from the frame onto the cheekbones. They are not sealing surfaces and they carry no air, so their entire job is to stop the frame rotating.

Rotation is the usual route to a leak on a compact mask. With the frame stabilized, the right response to a leak is a size change rather than more strap tension, which on this design tends to make matters worse.

A shorter sizing ladder

Three seals cover the range where most full face masks offer four or five, and the ladder starts lower than usual. Extra Small exists because compact masks are often prescribed for smaller faces that a traditional full face cannot fit at all.

Small to Medium is where most adults land. The measurement runs from the base of the nose to below the lower lip, not across the width of the face, so a broad face does not automatically mean Large.

Keeping it working

The seal is the part that fails and the rest of the mask is built to outlast it. Oils from the skin gradually soften the silicone until it stops holding an edge, which reads as a leak that tightening does not cure.

Wash the seal daily in warm water with a mild soap and dry it away from direct sunlight. The knitted headgear wants a weekly wash and should be dried flat, since heat will take the stretch out of it.

Everything you need to know about the Fisher & Paykel Evora Full Face Mask

A seal that floats

The cushion is mounted so it can move independently of the frame rather than being fixed to it. Stability wings hold the frame steady against your cheeks while the seal follows your face, which is what keeps a shift in position from becoming a leak.

Headgear that breathes

The straps are a knitted open weave rather than solid fabric, so heat and moisture pass through instead of collecting against your head. Fisher and Paykel call it VentiCool, and it is the part warm sleepers notice first.

Sizes start at Extra Small

Seals come in Extra Small, Small to Medium and Large, which is a shorter ladder than most full face masks and reaches further down. Small to Medium covers most adults, so start there unless a previous mask sat too wide on you.

Below nose cushion

The seal sits below your nose and over your mouth, so nothing presses on the bridge or between your eyes.

Short front tube

A short tube leaves the front of the mask and swivels, so the hose can run over either shoulder.

Diffused venting

Exhaled air spreads out through the vent rather than leaving as a jet aimed at the person beside you.

Seals sold alone

The seal is replaced on its own, so the frame, headgear and tube stay with you when it wears out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which seal size should I start with?

Small to Medium fits most adults, with Extra Small and Large either side of it. The Fit Pack ships all three in one box, or call us and we will walk you through measuring.

Does anything sit on my nose?

No. The Evora Full Face seals below your nose and over your mouth, so the bridge stays clear. That is what separates a compact full face mask from a traditional one.

What headgear size does it come with?

Every Evora Full Face ships with the Standard headgear. An Extra Large size is sold separately if Standard will not reach far enough for you.

Will it work with my machine?

Yes. The Evora Full Face uses a standard CPAP hose connection and works with any CPAP or BiPAP machine, not just Fisher and Paykel.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes, CPAP masks are prescription devices. You can still complete checkout without one: we hold the order rather than cancel it, and ship as soon as we can verify your prescription.
