Overview
The 3B Medical Lumin is a UV-C sanitizing device built for CPAP masks, tubing sections and other small equipment, from any brand. A 9 watt germicidal lamp runs inside a fully enclosed drawer, finishing a cycle in five minutes with no water or chemicals involved.
This device does not sanitize the inside of a CPAP or BiPAP machine, only the equipment that fits inside its drawer. It is built as a supplement to your regular equipment care routine, not a replacement for it.
Key Features:
- Five-minute cycle: A UV-C cycle finishes in five minutes, with nothing to rinse, dry or wait on afterward.
- No water or chemicals: The lamp does the work alone, so there is nothing to mix, refill or dispose of after each use.
- Automatic safety shutoff: The UV lamp shuts off the instant the drawer opens, so there is no risk of exposure during a cycle.
- Fits more than CPAP gear: Toothbrushes, hearing aids, dentures and other small household items fit in the drawer alongside CPAP equipment.
- 9,000 hour bulb: The bulb is rated to outlast most devices, so there is no routine bulb order to remember.
- Not for the machine itself: This device sanitizes masks, tubing and water tubs, not the inside of your CPAP or BiPAP machine.
This device suits anyone who wants a fast, chemical-free way to sanitize CPAP gear between regular cleanings, and it works just as well on everyday items like toothbrushes and hearing aids. It runs alongside your existing routine rather than replacing it.
How It Works
The UV-C mechanism
A 9 watt germicidal lamp emits UV-C light at 254 nanometers, the same wavelength hospitals use to disinfect operating rooms and clean rooms. Placed inside a fully enclosed aluminum drawer, the light reaches every exposed surface of whatever is loaded inside.
3B Medical rates a full cycle at 99% effective against bacteria, pathogens and fungi present on the item's surface. The lamp cannot reach anything sealed inside a device housing, which is why it does not sanitize a CPAP or BiPAP machine.
What it does and does not reach
Anything that fits in the drawer and has an exposed surface can go through a cycle: masks, cushions, tubing sections, water tubs, even non-CPAP items like toothbrushes, dentures, hearing aids or a cell phone.
The machine itself stays out of scope, since its internal components are sealed inside a housing the UV light cannot reach. Follow the machine manufacturer's own cleaning guidance for that separately.
Power, bulb life and safety shutoff
The Lumin runs on dual voltage, 110V or 220V, drawing about 13 watts during a cycle. The bulb itself carries a 9,000 hour rating, long enough that most owners never replace it over the life of the device.
Opening the drawer mid-cycle cuts power to the lamp immediately, a fail-safe built into the mechanism rather than a warning label. There is no way to run the lamp with the drawer open.

Everything you need to know about the 3B Medical Lumin CPAP Equipment Sanitizer
UV-C light, not water or chemicals
The same UV-C wavelength hospitals use to disinfect operating rooms does the work here, sealed inside a fully enclosed drawer so none of it reaches you. A cycle finishes in five minutes with nothing to rinse out or dry afterward.
Does not sanitize the machine itself
The Lumin sanitizes masks, tubing sections, humidifier tubs and other equipment small enough to fit in the drawer. It does not reach the inside of the CPAP or BiPAP machine itself, which needs its own separate care.
No scheduled maintenance
The bulb carries a 9,000 hour rating, long enough that most owners never replace it over the life of the device. Wipe the drawer and exterior by hand if they need it, and treat a cycle as a supplement to your regular equipment care, not a replacement for it.

Five-minute cycle
A 254 nanometer UV-C lamp runs a full cycle in five minutes, with no water, chemicals or drying time needed.
Automatic safety shutoff
The UV lamp shuts off the instant the drawer opens, so there is no risk of exposure during use.
Beyond CPAP gear
Toothbrushes, hearing aids, dentures and other small items fit in the drawer alongside your CPAP gear.
Long bulb life
The bulb is rated to outlast the device itself, so there is nothing to schedule or reorder routinely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this sanitize my CPAP machine?
No. The Lumin is built for masks, tubing sections, water tubs and other equipment that fits in the drawer, not the machine's internal components. Continue following your machine manufacturer's own care instructions separately.
What items can I put in the Lumin?
Any CPAP mask, cushion, tubing section or water tub fits, regardless of brand. Small household items go in too, such as toothbrushes, hearing aids, dentures and cell phones.
How long does a cycle take?
Five minutes. The UV-C lamp runs the full cycle automatically once the drawer is closed, and shuts off the instant the drawer is opened again.
Do I need to replace the bulb?
Rarely. The bulb is rated for 9,000 hours, which outlasts most devices, so there is no routine part to reorder. A low cost replacement bulb is available in the uncommon case it is ever needed.
How often should I run a cycle?
3B Medical does not publish a fixed schedule. Treat the Lumin as a supplement to your regular mask and equipment care, not a replacement for it, and run a cycle as often as fits your routine.
