Two soft tips seal at each nostril, a wider base beneath them closes the rest of the gap, and a platform off to the side handles the venting. Splitting the job that way keeps the part actually touching your nose soft and thin, since it never doubles as the exhaust.

Four sizes are offered here, Small, Medium, Large and Medium Wide, and none of them are tied to your frame size. Philips ships its own frames separately in Small, Medium and Large, and Medium fits most faces, so a cushion swap rarely means a new frame.

Reach for this cushion when the tips no longer hold their shape, or when the base has stopped meeting the skin properly. Silicone softens gradually under nightly pressure, so the failure arrives as a slow leak rather than a visible tear.

Sizing from the base, not the tips

The instinct with nasal pillows is to judge size by how the tips feel inside the nostril. Philips asks for the opposite order here, placing the tips first and then checking whether the part underneath meets the skin flush along its whole length.

A gap there means the size is too small, and a base pressed up into the nostril means it is too large. Philips warns specifically against forcing it inside, which is the most common way this cushion ends up fitted wrong.

Why the frame does not change

The DreamWear platform separates the airway from the seal. Air travels through the frame around the sides of the face, so the cushion only has to close the gap at the nose, which is why the two parts are sized on different measurements.

That is also why buying a cushion is usually all that is needed. Frames come in Small, Medium and Large with Medium suiting most people, so the one you already own is likely still correct even when your cushion size changes.

Care, and the two lines about lifespan

Daily hand cleaning is what Philips asks for. Weekly, the rigid parts are cleared for a dishwasher, upper basket only, with no heated dry cycle running, while fabric headgear and sleeves are excluded from both that and a clothes dryer.

On lifespan the manual says two different things. A Useful Life section gives no figure and asks you to inspect and replace as needed, while a disposal section two pages later says annually, which is guidance about discarding the mask rather than a therapy cadence.
