Why the tube runs over your head

A hose that connects at the front of a mask crosses your line of sight and drags on the seal every time you turn over. Routing it to the crown moves that weight off the part of the mask doing the sealing.

The elbow clicks into the top of the frame and rotates there, so tubing can run up and over a pillow instead of trailing across the bed. Detaching it for cleaning is a matter of squeezing the side buttons.

Two frame sizes, three pillow sizes

Frame and pillow are sized separately on this mask. The frame sets how the mask sits against your ears and eyes, and the pillows set the seal at your nostrils, so a face can need a Small frame with a Large pillow just as easily as the reverse.

ResMed's own fitting rule is simple: move to a Small frame if the mask falls back toward your ears, or to Standard if it rides forward toward your eyes. Every pillow size already ships in the box, so only the frame is a real guess.

One platform, more than one mask

The frame that ships in this pack takes both P30i pillows and the AirFit N30i cradle cushion, since the two masks share the same clip geometry. Switching between the pillow feel and the cradle feel does not mean buying a second frame.

The headgear goes further still. ResMed builds one headgear for the whole 30i family, so the AirFit N30i, this P30i, and the AirTouch N30i all reorder the identical part regardless of which mask it started on.

What each part is built to outlast

ResMed's own service guidance gives the frame roughly three months and the headgear about six, while the pillow cushion is the fastest moving part at around one month. None of these are hard cutoffs: the guide's own instruction is to inspect and replace on visible wear.

The elbow and the QuietAir vent inside the frame are both meant to come apart without tools, which is what makes that inspection realistic to actually do rather than something that only happens when a part visibly fails.
