Overview

The ResMed AirMini is a lightweight, travel-sized Auto-CPAP machine designed for travelers. This small but mighty device has the same capabilities as your full-sized machine at home, including auto ramp, pressure adjustment, and many more features, while weighing just 0.66 pounds.

There is no water chamber to fill. A HumidX cartridge sits in the mask connector and returns moisture from the air you breathe out, so there is nothing to empty or dry out on the road.

The AirMini has no screen, and that is part of how it stays this small. The free AirMini app connects over Bluetooth and handles ramp, pressure relief, and your therapy score each morning.

At a glance

  • Full AutoSet therapy from 4 to 20 cm H2O, plus AutoSet for Her and fixed CPAP modes
  • AutoRamp starts low and rises once it senses you are asleep, with Expiratory Pressure Relief for exhaling
  • Waterless HumidX and HumidX Plus humidification, so there is no distilled water to carry
  • Cleared by the FAA for every phase of a flight, and rated to 8,500 feet
  • Fits AirFit P10, AirFit N30, AirFit and AirTouch N20, AirFit and AirTouch F20, and AirFit F30 in their AirMini versions

Everything you need to know about the ResMed AirMini AutoSet Travel CPAP

Compact for travel

The AirMini is the smallest CPAP machine ResMed has built. Its compact size means easy transport, fitting into a backpack or a carry-on bag without trouble.

  • 5.4 by 3.3 by 2.1 inches and 300 grams
Full AutoSet capabilities

This is not a stripped-down travel version. The AirMini runs the same AutoSet family algorithms as ResMed's home machines, across the full clinical pressure range.

  • AutoSet adjusts pressure breath by breath, from 4 to 20 cm H2O
  • Fixed CPAP mode is there when a prescription calls for one setting
  • AutoRamp starts low and rises once it senses you have fallen asleep
  • Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR) eases the push when you breathe out
Controlled through the AirMini app

The AirMini has no display. Every setting is reached through the AirMini app, paired over Bluetooth.

  • Set ramp time, pressure relief, SmartStart and SmartStop from your phone
  • See last night's usage, mask seal, events per hour and your therapy score

Humidity without a water tank

A HumidX cartridge sits in the mask connector and returns moisture from the air you breathe out, so there is no reservoir to fill and no distilled water to carry.
HumidX and HumidX Plus fit the P10, N30 and N20 setups. The F20 uses its own HumidX F20 instead, and the F30 has no HumidX option.
Cartridges are not washable, and ResMed strongly advises replacing them about every 30 days.

Works with select ResMed masks

The AirMini uses its own slim tubing and connector rather than a standard hose, so a mask has to have an AirMini version to fit. Five families do: AirFit P10, AirFit N30, AirFit and AirTouch N20, AirFit and AirTouch F20, and AirFit F30. Masks not listed above can still work with the AirMini using an adapter. Use the NovoSleep Universal Tube Adapter for AirMini to connect standard tubing and access a wider range of masks.

No battery inside

The AirMini operates on AC power. Meaning, it must be connected to a 24 V DC external battery for portable use. The device meets the FAA requirements for in-flight use, although airline approval for use of the power outlet should be confirmed beforehand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my current CPAP mask work with the AirMini?

Only if it belongs to one of five ResMed families, and only in its AirMini version: AirFit P10, AirFit N30, AirFit and AirTouch N20, AirFit and AirTouch F20, and AirFit F30. The AirMini uses its own slim tubing and connector rather than a standard hose, so a mask from another machine will not attach. No mask is included in the box.

Does the AirMini work with the myAir app?

No. The AirMini has its own app, separate from myAir. It shows usage, mask seal, events per hour and a therapy score, and keeps about 30 days of history. It does not produce a detailed compliance report, though a clinician can pull that through AirView.

Does the AirMini have a built-in battery?

No. Portable does not mean cordless here. The AirMini runs from its 20 W power supply, and ResMed sells a DC converter for 12 volt and 24 volt vehicle power. For camping or anywhere without an outlet you will need a compatible external battery.

Is the AirMini louder than a full-size CPAP?

On paper the gap is small. ResMed rates the AirMini at 29 dBA against roughly 27 dBA for its home machines. In practice some owners notice it more, because the compact vent, slim tube and mask sit closer to your face, so airflow and the sound of your own breathing are more present. Reactions to this genuinely vary.

Can I take the AirMini on a plane?

Yes. ResMed states the AirMini meets FAA requirements under RTCA DO-160 section 21 category M for every phase of air travel, and its power supply accepts the 115 volt 400 hertz supply used on aircraft. Check with your airline before planning to run it in flight.

Do I need distilled water for the AirMini?

No, and that is the point of the HumidX system. There is no water chamber at all. A small cartridge sits in the mask connector and returns moisture from your own breath, so there is nothing to fill, empty or dry out while you travel.

Can the AirMini be my only CPAP machine?

It can. Its pressure range and its algorithms match a home machine. Many owners still buy it as a second device, because a full-size machine offers heated humidification you can adjust and accepts any standard mask. If you are prone to a dry nose or throat, that difference matters more than size does.
