Fisher & Paykel Vitera RollFit XT Seal

This is the part of a Vitera that actually meets the skin, so it does more than any other piece to decide how the mask feels night to night. Fisher and Paykel market it as the RollFit XT seal, offered here in Small, Medium and Large.

Its stated behavior is to roll as you move rather than stay fixed, which is aimed at keeping load off the bridge of the nose. That is precisely where a full face mask leaves its marks, and where most complaints about wearing one begin.

Key Features:

• Ships bare: The reorder table lists the seal separately from the clips, the forehead clip and the headgear.
• Shared swivel: The swivel on this mask carries the very same part number that is listed for the Brevida.
• Thirty day cadence: Thirty days is the published figure for the seal, set apart from the mask's own yearly ceiling.
• Quiet running: Published sound figures sit at the quiet end for a full face mask of this size.
• Elbow attached: The elbow is fixed to the frame and is not intended to be detached by the user at home.
• Material unlisted: No Fisher and Paykel document publishes a materials table for this seal, so none is claimed here.

A Vitera that has begun pressing on the nose bridge or venting at the cheek usually needs its seal changed, not its frame. This is the surface that stiffens with age, and stiffness is what breaks the roll it depends on.

What RollFit XT actually names

Two documents describe this part in two different ways. The product page uses the marketing name and describes a seal that adapts as a patient moves, while the Use and Care Guide never uses that name at all and simply calls the component the Seal.

Both are correct, and neither implies a version history. Retail copy that compares RollFit XT to a previous generation is comparing it to the older Simplus mask, not to an earlier Vitera part, so there is no outdated Vitera seal to avoid buying.

Picking a size without a chart

Fisher and Paykel never published a fitting scale for this seal. What they offer instead is the Fit Pack, which ships all three sizes together and settles the question by letting you wear each one.

If you already own the mask and are reordering, the size printed on your current seal is the reliable answer. Moving up a size to fix a leak is usually the wrong move, since a larger seal adds volume without adding grip.

Cleaning it, and the ten minute rule

Clean the mask body by hand once a day and let the headgear wait a week. Soaking is permitted but never beyond ten minutes, and nothing containing alcohol, chlorine or bleach may go near the seal, the dishwasher included.

Two ceilings run in parallel. A month governs the seal, a year governs the mask assembly counted from first use, and arriving at one of them tells you nothing whatever about the other.
