ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP Flexible Tubing

The ResMed AirMini tube is the flexible hose that carries air from your travel machine to your mask. Unlike a full-size tube built to sit permanently beside a bed, this one is made to be unplugged, coiled and packed every single morning.

It is the only hose the AirMini accepts, and there is no heated version to weigh against it. The machine adds its moisture inside the mask connector instead, so the tube itself stays a tube.

Note: Route the tube so it cannot loop around your head or neck while you sleep, the same caution ResMed gives for its tubing generally. This one packs down small enough to end up coiled close to the pillow.

Why no other hose fits

Nearly every CPAP built uses a 22 mm outlet defined by an international standard, which is why hoses move freely between brands. ResMed's own technical sheet for the AirMini says its 16 mm outlet is deliberately not compatible with that standard.

That is a size decision made to keep the machine small, not a lock-out for its own sake. The practical result is the same either way: the AirMini takes this tube, and this tube goes on an AirMini.

Where the moisture comes from

Full-size machines humidify by heating water in a tub and then keeping that moisture suspended with a warmed hose. An AirMini carries no water at all, which is most of the reason it travels well and can run off a small power supply.

Instead a HumidX or HumidX Plus cartridge sits inside the mask connector and works off your own breath, catching moisture on the way out and handing it back on the way in. It is a consumable of its own, replaced within 30 days of opening.

Keeping it, and knowing when it is done

ResMed asks for a weekly wash in warm water with a mild liquid detergent, a thorough rinse, and drying somewhere out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Bleach, alcohol, scented oils and antibacterial soaps are all on the do-not-use list, and so are dishwashers.

The weekly wash doubles as the inspection. Run the hose through your hands while it is drying and look for holes, tears or cracks, since any of those means replacing it now rather than at the six month mark.
