Renting or buying a hospital bed
Renting suits a recovery measured in weeks or months, such as coming home after surgery or a hospital stay. If the bed will be needed for good, buying can cost less over time. The same Delta Ultra-Light 1000 beds are for sale in our hospital beds collection.
Both beds have a battery backup. If the power goes out, a 9-volt battery can still lower the head and foot sections up to nine times. The universal frame also fits the bed ends of most manufacturers.
For someone who will spend long hours in bed, a pressure relief mattress helps spread the load, which can lower the risk of bed sores.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent a hospital bed?
$125 a month for the semi-electric bed, or $200 a month for the full-electric bed with a 5-zone support mattress. A refundable deposit applies, and delivery and setup are free in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.
What is the difference between a semi-electric and a full-electric bed?
On a semi-electric bed, the motor moves the head and foot sections and the height is set with a hand crank. A full-electric bed motorizes the height as well, which helps when a caregiver needs the bed at working height.
Does the rental include a mattress?
The full-electric rental includes a Therapeutic 5 Zone Support Mattress. The semi-electric rental is the bed frame only, so you can add a foam mattress or an air mattress.
Is there a minimum rental period?
No. Bed rentals run month to month, so the rental ends once the bed is no longer needed.
Does Medicare cover a hospital bed rental?
Medicare Part B may cover a hospital bed when your doctor orders one for use in your home. We are taking new Medicare patients for hospital beds, and what you pay depends on your plan. Our insurance billing page lists the plans we bill.
