Bed rental in DavieAlternating pressure and low air loss
An alternating pressure mattress fills and empties its air cells in turn, so the same spots are not pressed on all night. The Med-Aire Assure runs 10-minute cycles and can also hold a static setting, with weight settings to adjust how far the patient sinks in.
Low air loss lets a little air flow through the cover to help keep skin cool and dry. Drive Medical designed the system to help prevent and treat pressure ulcers at home or in long-term care.
An alarm sounds and lights up when the air pressure runs low, and a CPR valve lets a caregiver deflate the mattress quickly. The quilted nylon cover resists fluid and comes off for cleaning.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent an air mattress for a hospital bed?
$125 a month for the Med-Aire Assure, and the pump comes with it. A refundable deposit applies. Delivery and setup are free in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.
Does an air mattress help prevent bed sores?
It can help. Spreading pressure and keeping skin dry ease the strain on the spots most at risk, but turning, skin checks and nursing care still matter. The patient's doctor or nurse can say which surface suits them.
What happens to an air mattress in a power outage?
The air cells of the Med-Aire Assure sit on a 3 inch foam base, so the patient stays supported while the power is out.
Will the air mattress fit a hospital bed?
Drive Medical lists the Med-Aire Assure at 36 by 80 inches, the same size as the 5-zone support mattress made for hospital bed frames.
Does Medicare cover a pressure relief mattress?
Medicare Part B covers some pressure-reducing mattresses and overlays that a doctor orders for use at home, when you meet its criteria. We are taking new Medicare patients for this equipment, and our insurance billing page lists the plans we bill.
