The DreamWear Nasal Mask Fit Pack with Arms pairs the under the nose DreamWear cushion with the updated headgear, the version with arms that run forward to the frame. It ships with both a Small and a Medium frame and a Small and a Medium cushion.

The arms are the point of the redesign. They run from the headgear straps forward to the mask frame, adding a line of support that the crown strap alone does not provide and keeping the mask where you set it as you turn over.

What the arms changed

The DreamWear frame is soft by design, which is what makes it comfortable and also what makes it move. Under enough sideways force the whole assembly can rotate a few degrees on the face, and a few degrees is enough to open a leak path.

The arms resist that rotation. By tying the headgear to the frame at a second height, they turn a single pivot at the crown into a braced triangle, so pressing your cheek into a pillow displaces the mask far less than it used to.

Why two frames rather than four cushions

Philips builds two different fit packs for this mask and they answer two different questions. One assumes you know your frame and not your cushion, and gives you every cushion size with a single Medium frame.

This one assumes the opposite: that you are somewhere between the two smaller sizes and are not sure which. It gives you both frames and both matching cushions, at the cost of leaving the wider cushions out of the box entirely.

Deciding between Small and Medium

Wear the Medium frame first. If the frame arms sit low on the cheeks or the cushion is pulled downward off the nostrils, the frame is too long and the Small is the one you want.

The cushions follow a similar test. A cushion that pinches the nostrils inward is undersized, and one that lets air escape upward toward the eyes is oversized, and neither is fixed by tightening the headgear.

Keeping the spare parts usable

Whichever cushion you are wearing gets washed every day in warm water with a mild soap, then dried away from direct sunlight. The frame needs the same attention on the inside, since the tubes along the cheeks are the air path.

The unused frame and cushion are your replacements later, not packaging. Store them clean and dry with the sealing surfaces protected, and the spare cushion goes into service the day the first one turns tacky.
