Overview
The ResMed AirTouch F30i is a full face mask built around the ComfiSoft cushion, a fabric seal with a silicone coating. Unlike a bare silicone cushion, it places a soft fabric surface against your skin while the mask covers both your nose and mouth.
It comes in two styles, and the only part that differs between them is the frame. Clear keeps the frame as plain transparent silicone, and Comfort wraps the same frame in a soft fabric sleeve that breathes and wicks away moisture through the night.

How It Works
Two vents, two jobs
Exhaled air leaves through two places. The QuietAir vent is built into the cushion, and a multi-hole vent sits on the elbow above your head.
ResMed measures the QuietAir vent at 20 dBA of sound power and the elbow vent at 24 dBA. Because the elbow vent is up at your crown, its share of the air leaves well away from your face.
Choosing a frame by head size
The frame reaches from your crown down past your cheeks, so it is sized to your head rather than your face. ResMed's guide gives a head measurement for each size.
Small fits about 22.6 to 24.4 inches around, Standard 24.4 to 25.7 inches, and Large 25.7 to 27.4 inches. Measure around your head with a soft tape before you choose.
Getting up in the night
The elbow releases on demand. Two buttons on its sides let go of the frame, and the hose comes away while the headgear stays exactly as you set it.
To reconnect, push the elbow back onto the frame until it seats. The strap tension never changes, so the seal is waiting for you when you come back to bed.
The built-in safety valve
Inside the left and right frame connectors is an anti-asphyxia valve. If airflow from the machine stops, the valve opens to room air at under 4 cmH2O.
The mask is rated for therapy pressures from 4 to 30 cmH2O, as ResMed states in the user guide.

ComfiSoft fabric cushion
The cushion is fabric with a silicone coating, not plain silicone or memory foam, and ResMed calls its seal design AdaptiSeal. A nasal septum bridge holds the cushion in shape, so the seal keeps its form where it meets your face.
Hollow conduit frame
The frame is not only a support: it is hollow, and your air travels through it from the elbow down to the cushion. That leaves no separate hose running across your face, and the flexible frame gives a little as you turn.
Fitting the frame and cushion
Cushion size follows the width of your nose, which ResMed's printable guide measures. Frame size follows your head: if the mask falls back or sits near your ears, go one size smaller, and if it slides toward your eyes, go larger.
Top-of-head elbow
The tube connects at your crown and swivels all the way around, so it trails behind you instead of across the pillow.
Magnetic clips
Magnets in the frame guide the lower straps into place, so the mask goes back on by feel with the lights off.
QuietAir vent
Vent holes in the cushion and on the elbow diffuse each breath, so less of a draft reaches whoever sleeps beside you.
Interchangeable cushions
Cushions for this mask, the AirFit F30i and the X30i are interchangeable, so a new seal keeps your frame and headgear.
Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes does the AirTouch F30i come in?
There are three frame sizes, Small, Standard and Large, and three cushion sizes, Small Wide, Medium and Large. ResMed sells them as five matched kits, so pick a frame first and the selector narrows the cushion choice to match.
How is Clear different from Comfort?
Only the frame changes. Comfort covers it in a breathable fabric sleeve that stays on for good, while Clear leaves the silicone bare, and the cushion, elbow, vents and headgear are identical on both.
How do I clean the ComfiSoft cushion?
ResMed says to hand-wash the cushion after each use in warm water with mild liquid detergent, without a brush, then let it air-dry out of direct sunlight. The frame, headgear and elbow need the same once a week. On Comfort, a twisted sleeve can be straightened while it is still wet.
Will it work with my machine?
Yes. The AirTouch F30i uses a standard CPAP hose connection and works with most CPAP and BiPAP machines, not just ResMed. On a ResMed machine, choose Full Face in the mask setting menu.
Do I need a prescription?
