Machine rental in DavieHow to get a BiPAP machine
- Get a bilevel prescriptionYour doctor prescribes bilevel therapy and sets the mode and both pressures. Upload the prescription, fax it or bring it in.
- Buy or rentBuy the AirCurve 11 VAuto outright, or rent a BiPAP by the month. Rentals are arranged by phone or at the Davie store.
- Delivery or pickupDelivery and setup cost nothing in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach. Collecting the machine in Davie works too.
- Check your maskA BiPAP takes the same vented masks as a CPAP. A free fitting helps if yours leaks at the new pressures.
BiPAP vs CPAP
Both machines keep your airway open with pressurized air. The difference is the exhale. A CPAP holds a single pressure, so you breathe out against the same push you breathe in with. A BiPAP drops to a lower pressure as you exhale, which can feel easier, especially at higher pressures.
Your doctor decides which one you need, and the prescription names the mode and both pressures.
For sleep apnea, Medicare covers a bilevel machine once a CPAP was tried and did not work, despite a proper mask fit and the right pressure settings. Switching during the first three months of CPAP needs no new sleep test. Our Medicare CPAP supplier page explains how we bill Medicare.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between BiPAP and CPAP?
A CPAP uses one pressure for breathing in and out. A BiPAP uses two: a higher pressure as you breathe in and a lower one as you breathe out. Your prescription says which one you need.
Do I need a prescription for a BiPAP machine?
Yes. A BiPAP needs a prescription that names bilevel therapy and its settings. You can send it online, by fax or in person.
Can I rent a BiPAP machine?
Yes, for $200 a month, month to month. The deposit is $500 and comes back when the machine is returned. A rental needs the same prescription as a purchase and is set up by phone or at the Davie store rather than online.
Does Medicare cover a BiPAP machine?
Yes, when you qualify. For sleep apnea, Medicare covers a BiPAP after a CPAP did not work for you. We are taking new Medicare patients, and our insurance billing page lists the plans we bill.
Can I use my CPAP mask with a BiPAP?
Usually, yes. BiPAP machines work with the same vented masks as CPAP machines. If your mask leaks at the higher pressure, a free mask fitting can check the size and style.
