Nasal cushion
A small triangular cushion seals over your nose. The ResMed AirFit N20 and the Fisher & Paykel Eson 2 and Evora Nasal are built this way.

The cushion cradles the base of your nose instead of the bridge, so nothing rests between your eyes. Try the AirFit N30, the N30i and the Philips DreamWear Nasal.

Nasal masks and nasal pillows suit you if you breathe through your nose while you sleep. They are lighter and smaller than a full face mask, which helps if you like to read or wear glasses before sleep, or if a larger mask feels closed in.
Nasal pillows leave your upper lip clear, so they sit well with a mustache. Masks with the tube on top of the head, such as the AirFit N30i and P30i, stay out of the way if you sleep on your side.
The one thing to know: a nasal or pillow mask works best with your mouth closed. Some people add a chin strap. If your mouth tends to open at night, compare a full face mask at your free fitting.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between nasal pillows and a nasal mask?
Nasal pillows seal at your nostrils, and a nasal mask seals around or under your nose. Pillows are the smaller and lighter of the two. Some people find a nasal cushion more comfortable at higher pressures.
What size nasal CPAP mask do I need?
It depends on the mask, because sizes are not the same from brand to brand. Some masks come as a fit pack with every cushion or pillow size, and a free fitting in our Davie store lets you try sizes on.
Do I need a prescription for a nasal mask?
A complete nasal or pillow mask needs a prescription. Replacement cushions, pillows and headgear do not. See prescription help.
How often does Medicare replace nasal cushions and pillows?
Medicare usually allows two nasal cushions or two sets of nasal pillows a month, and a new nasal mask every three months. See Medicare CPAP supplier.
