The Transcend Micro Auto CPAP gives you the complete pressure range of a bedside machine in a device lighter than half a pound. Transcend, based in Fridley, Minnesota, makes it in America with a mix of US and imported parts, and designs it to serve for five years.
This is the original Transcend Micro, the first travel machine the newer Micro 510 was developed from. Transcend backs the machine itself with a two year warranty, while the hose, muffler and air filter that ship with it are each covered for 90 days.

The Micro is ideal for frequent flyers, campers, RV owners and anyone who wants a spare for nights away from a bedside machine. It is not the right pick if you rely on heated humidity, since it has no water chamber or heater.
Note: Transcend's guidance is to use its own hoses only, or hoses meeting the ISO standard for CPAP tubing, so the connection cannot slip loose during the night.
How It Works
What an AirMist cartridge does
An AirMist cartridge is an HME, short for heat and moisture exchanger. As you exhale, a foam core inside it traps part of the warmth and humidity you breathe out. When you inhale, the incoming airflow crosses that same foam and carries the moisture to your nose and throat.
The adapter screws together around one cartridge and attaches to the standard 22 mm fitting between hose and mask. The adapter and cartridges are sold separately from the Micro.
Micro Muffler or full size WhisperSoft
Transcend offers two mufflers for the original Micro. The Micro Muffler in the box plugs directly into the air outlet. The full size WhisperSoft muffler sits further along the line instead, joined to the machine by a five inch hose, with your long hose running from its far side to the mask.
Both are optional. Neither changes your prescribed pressure or the comfort settings your provider chose.
Running on the PowerAway battery
The PowerAway battery weighs about one pound and uses the same power supply as the Micro, so one charger covers both. Charge it fully before the first night, with the machine unplugged from it.
Away from any outlet, the battery can also be topped up with the Sun-Watt solar charger that Transcend sells.

Made to travel
At 3.6 inches across, 2.4 inches tall and about 7.7 ounces, the Micro packs into a carry-on beside everything else. It meets the FAA's requirements for in-flight use, and Transcend offers a compliance letter to print and carry.
- Adjusts itself for elevation, from sea level to 8,000 feet
- Some airlines do not count a medical device toward your carry-on limit
Pressure and comfort settings
Your provider sets the Micro to Auto CPAP, which responds to your breathing through the night, or to a single fixed pressure. Either mode works between 4 and 20 cm H2O.
- GentleRise ramp begins at a lower pressure and climbs over as long as 45 minutes
- AirRelief lowers pressure on each exhale, set to off or one of three levels
- SleepStart turns the air on when you breathe into the mask
Four buttons, no screen
Power, Bluetooth, Ramp and Dry Cycle are the only controls. A green light tells you the Micro has power, and the lights switch off while therapy runs.
- Dry Cycle blows gentle air through the hose for 30 minutes after you wake
- Holding Ramp speeds up the climb to your full pressure
- The Bluetooth light turns white when the radio is off for a flight
Moisture without a water tank
The Micro has no chamber to fill, so you never hunt for distilled water on a trip or pour it out in the morning. For humidity, add a separately sold AirMist adapter at the mask end of your hose. Its foam cartridge holds the warmth and moisture of each breath you exhale and returns it as you inhale.
Fits your current mask
The Micro takes any mask with the standard 22 mm fitting, so the nasal, nasal pillow or full face mask you own today will attach. No mask comes in the box. The exception is a mask designed solely for ResMed's AirMini, since its connector is narrower. With some masks SleepStart may not sense your breath, so press Power to start instead.
WhisperSoft Micro Muffler
A small muffler comes with the Micro to quiet the rush of air for you and anyone sleeping beside you. It twists straight into the air outlet and the hose twists into its other end, so there is no extra tubing to pack. Using it is optional, so it can come off for a short trip.
MySleepDash app
Pair the Micro with MySleepDash, Transcend's free app for iPhone or Android, by scanning the code on its underside. The app shows your usage night by night and builds a compliance report you can send to your doctor or employer. The app is optional, and the Micro runs the same without it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it overseas?
Yes. The power supply in the box runs on anything from 100 to 240 volts, which covers outlets in most countries, so a plug adapter shaped for the local socket is the only extra you need.
How does it differ from the Micro 510?
Both share the same size and pressure range. The 510 adds four colors, a hard case and an AirMist starter pack in the box, plus a third year of warranty. The original Micro comes in one color.
How quiet is the Micro?
Transcend rates it at 27 dBA in a typical room. Measured under the ISO test method at 10 cm H2O, the manual gives 31 dBA, which is the figure to compare against another machine's manual.
Can I use it during a flight?
Yes. Before takeoff, press the Bluetooth button until its light turns white, leave the app closed, and use the Power button to begin therapy. Ask your airline about its own rules for medical devices before you fly.
Does the Micro have a battery built in?
No, it runs from the wall unless you add the PowerAway battery, sold separately, which lasts as long as 17.5 hours per charge. Placed between the machine and the outlet, it also takes over without interrupting therapy if the power fails.
Which parts need replacing, and how often?
Change the PureFresh air filter at least every three months. Clean the hose and muffler each week and replace them every three months. AirMist cartridges cannot be washed, so you replace each one every three to seven days.
Is a prescription required to order?
